Relaunch of Body & Society with Special Issue on ‘Affect’

Theory, Culture & Society’s sister journal, Body & Society, has just been relaunched, with a new editor, new editorial board, and even a new front cover.

Lisa Blackman takes over the helm as editor, while Mike Featherstone becomes editor-in-chief, and Couze Venn becomes reviews editor. Joining them on the editorial board are Roger Burrows, Patricia Ticineto Clough, Nick Crossley and Chris Shilling, while Tomoko Tamari steps into the shoes of managing editor.

The new cover design is taken from La Vie by Japanese artist Kenji Yoshida, and demonstrates the interconnectedness of living processes and the continuity between life and death.The first issue of the new look journal is a Special Issue on Affect (B&S 16.1, March 2010), edited by Lisa Blackman and Couze Venn. It focuses on the significance for body-studies of the ‘turn to affect’ that has taken place across the humanities and the social sciences, particularly in terms of a re-engagement with perception, sensation and memory, and explores the role of different versions of affect in the theorising of the body.
